We are a casual league that meets on Wednesday afternoon, 3:00 pm, to play golf, enjoy the company of others and have some food and camaraderie after the round.
It is easy to join the league for weekly play or for just the times you are available.
If you are interested in join ing just show up any Wednesday at 3:00 pm and look for Dave DuFresne, or ask anyone and they will point Dave out for you. Talk to Dave and he will explain everything about the league. You just sign you name on the list that is on the Golf Course Bulletin Board and you are a league member. There is no league fee to join.
When you arrive for Senior Men’s League play you will find a sign-up sheet on one of the tables. Sign the sheet and take a numbered disc that corresponds with their name on the sing up list and put the disc in the coffee can. Next, place $4.00 in the cigar box for the weekly league fee that is used to pay out the small prize for the winners of the day and it is also used to pay the League Fee at the end of August.
If you want to stay for the after league meal, go to the counter at the cash register and pay the meal cost for that day to whoever is working the counter. The will place your contribution into the League’s moneybag.
The teams for the days 3-man scramble will be determined by drawing the discs out of the coffee cans. The discs are put on the 9 playing cards on the table and your starting hole is determined by the playing card, 1-9. No handicaps are used for the weekly league 3-man scramble. The league is usually finished playing between 6:00 and 6:30.
New members are always welcome for a week or a month or the season. For more information contact Dave DuFresne – deputyfresne@aol.com
The Range Senior Golf League is made up of nine small towns in Northeastern Minnesota. During the season each town hosts a tournament and at the end of the season we have a four-man scramble tournament before our year ending league meeting.
This is a handicap league. We have over 200 members and try to schedule at least 90 for each tournament. Each town has a member who is the organizer for that town. He is the host when the tournament is played at his course. He sets up the flights according to handicaps, provides a banquet when we are finished playing, and distributes prize money for the flights and other contest winners.
Each flight usually has ten players and prize money is awarded to the three players in each flight with the lowest scores. There is also prize money for the longest putt on a designated hole and for closest to the pin on a designated par three hole. Included in the package is a skins game.
Most events are $40. See the Range website for updated information. After green fees are paid the remaining money is used toward the banquet and prizes.
